Choosing The Best Online Web Store

Posted in Selling Online with tags , , , , , , , on February 25, 2010 by sellonline1

Many people are under the impression that different types of stores, whether it be from ebay or amazon, will automatically bring you different amounts of “traffic” (visitors who might buy from you). While that might have been true to some extent many years ago, it really doesn’t work that way anymore. You can’t depend on a stores platform to bring in your trafficand generate sales. You have to go out and get it. So don’t believe it when you hear that building this kind of store or that kind of store will automatically bring people into buy from you. There’s no such thing as “automatic traffic”. At least not enough of it to make any kind of a difference to your business.

Deciding on which online store to choose from can be difficult, so I would start at looking at the cost, features and ease of use.

There are sites out there that charge a LOT of money to have an online store while there are others that only charge a small fee. Yahoo stores is one that charges outrageous fees. You’ll have basic setup fees along with other fees just to set up your store which could cost you in the thousands just to set up. Not to mention on top of that, you’ll have a monthly charge. While some of their features might be appealing, I would stay clear using them. The same goes for eBay Stores, or amazon stores, or even godaddy stores.

Choosing a big company to go with like eBay might not be your best solution. Just because they are large and get lots of traffic, doesn’t mean anyone will even ever see your store. For instance, you’re selling a dvd on ebay, how many people on there do you think are selling that same exact dvd? Hundreds and thousands of people. Going with a slightly smaller company could in reality bring you more business. Why? Well, think about it. If you a selling that same dvd on another site where you or maybe a couple other people are selling that same item, you have a lot better chance of somebody stumbling upon it.

So, what’s a good company to choose? Personally, I have had great success selling on Sellbits.com.  With them, you can have your own customized web store for fractions of what others charge. They have the lowest prices I’ve seen and are the easiest to use. Your products are not only on just your stores page but are on their home page as well, which allows your product to be seen on multiple pages and sections of their site. They also offer you packages where you can have some of your products featured or bold. Also, your store will have its own customized URL to fit your stores needs, which you can use to market to the rest of the world.

To sum it all up, always look around before deciding on which online store to choose from. In my opinion though, if you’re looking for a low cost store with many features and a very easy platform to use, try out sellbits.com. There is no contract so you can cancel at any time and there’s always a live chat person available if you need additional help.

It’s only a matter of time for eBay…

Posted in news, Selling Online with tags , , , , , , , , , on January 31, 2010 by sellonline1

eBay has been the largest and most well known online buying and shopping website and community now for a long, long time. The initial concept was great. It was definitely an innovative, well thought out idea. In the beginning, eBay catered to their customers’ needs and seemed to have run a sound business operation. Then as the profits started to stream in and the company became larger and larger, and ever more corporate, things started to go downhill fast. The only way that eBay is surviving today is because of their name. eBay is to the online shopping world what Michael Jordan is to the basketball world. It is, without a doubt, a household name.

The problem is that E bay doesn’t take care of the customers that built it into what it has become today. The people that built eBay are now being charged unbelievable fees and prices that are extremely hard to deal with in an online world that is hard to make a living on. I’ll give you just a small example. If you are selling an item that you need to take a descent amount of pictures for your listing, I promise you that right now on E bay you will be over the $5.00 mark  very, very quickly. And the idea of taking a cut out of the profit that you made on your item is ridiculous!

What people don’t realize is that there are many great alternatives out there. For instance I found a great new online buying and selling website called sellbits.com that has a fantastic business concept that is the most user and customer friendly that I have ever seen out of an online buying and selling website. Sellbits.com lets you sell anything you want for only $1. They don’t charge you for pictures and they don’t take a cut out of your profits. I think that it’s time that people finally see the light and realize that eBay is really taking it to their customers. And they are doing it because they think they can. How horrible is that? There are alternatives people. Find them!

The only other reason that eBay is staying afloat is because of paypal. Acquiring Paypal may be the smartest thing that the people of E bay have ever done. Paypal has made them more money than eBay has over recent years by a ridiculously large margin. eBay actually pales in comparison to what Paypal has done for them. They definitely still have a corner on that market. But only until they pull the old eBay tactics of getting too greedy and then they too will fall to a competitor who cares about their users and customers and has a more sound business plan that does not include forgetting who got you where you are today.

So for all you E buyers out there who are spending way too much of your own money and profits for a company who cares nothing about you except how much you help them hit their quarterly numbers, there are alternatives. This country would be in a lot better position right now if people stopped accepting things and actually stood up and took a stand. We haven’t done that for a long time and there is no time like the present. I recommend trying out sellbits.com and they are in deed, “The Simple Way To Sell.”

Surfing the Internet

Posted in news, Selling Online with tags , , , , , , , , on January 25, 2010 by sellonline1

I’ve been surfing the internet for as long as I can remember. Well, at least since about 1995. I’ve always been a big fan of it. Whether it’s because I enjoy acquiring knowledge and finding out things, or whether it’s because it has probably saved me from a number of hefty bar tabs doesn’t really matter. My guess is that it’s a little of both. It doesn’t really matter though. It still amazes me to think that we can have all these vast amounts of information at our fingertips 24 hours a day. It truly is amazing. Of course you have to sort through the good from the bad, truth from lies, and scams from reality. But I think that’s all part of the fun. There’s been several times when I began surfing the web to find out how some successful person got their big break and I ended up looking at who led the National League in home runs in 1983. If you just spend a few hours it can take you on a wild ride.

I think that the best thing you can do while surfing the internet is listen to music. The two combined are like peas and carrots or mashed potatoes and gravy. You can listen to the classics or get the chance to listen to something new. Because we all know that it usually takes a few listens before we get it. I love to listen to music and surf shopping or selling websites. I don’t know how many nights I’ve spent listening to music while I was making money online by buying or selling my items on sellbits.com. I’ll buy gifts or personal stuff. Or I’ll list some of my items on sellbits.com to make some extra money. But regardless of what you’re surfing the web for, make sure you listen to music. I usually listen to soothing music, especially when close to bedtime. During the day, you’ll usually find me blasting some DragonForce!

I also like to use the internet to solve problems or answer questions that have been bugging me that I don’t know the answer to. Believe me, there is so much out there it’s incredible. It’s also nice to spend a night catching up with old friends through email. I get sick and tired of receiving forwards all the time when all that I want is an email. So I make it a point to send emails to my friends and family to let them know that I’m thinking about them.

A lot of people get into the social websites. That really isn’t my cup of tea but a lot of people spend entire evenings on facebook.com, myspace.com, and even linkedin.com for professionals. Oh yeah! I can’t forget to mention twitter.com. My friend Adam loves to tweet. I don’t get it. Oh well. Whatever trips your trigger, I guess. I guess it really doesn’t matter what you do with your time surfing the internet. It has become as big a national pastime as baseball and watching TV. I suppose that the next thing to come along will probably be time travel. We’ll have to wait and see.
